Doors and frames
Counted by type, faces and edges included.
Exposed steel
Framing, deck and miscellaneous metals to paint, in m² or by tonnage.
Special coatings
Epoxy, intumescent paint, line marking and special finishes, shown separately.

Watch out for
What we often see missing from a bid.
- Surfaces included or excluded by the painting spec section, rarely read in full.
- High ceilings and exposed steel, which need a lift and a different production rate.
- The number of colours, which changes cut-in and prep time.

Do you read the architect’s finish schedule?
Yes. It often says which surfaces get painted and with which system.
Do you price intumescent paint?
Separately, because the required thickness changes the whole calculation.
